PLAY HARD GAME SEASON TWO (Episode One)

by - 11:21 AM

Josephine glanced at Michael and guy next door look at Sami’s ruggedly handsome appearance. In her mind she feel the comparison of both men were so opposite in their looks and attitude. Michael Collins was a good looking guy with a straight well combed dark hair, arresting blue eyes and a bit chubby jaw line. Although he was really cute he didn’t seem to know it. He always thought that he was plain looking like any other ordinary men. He dressed casually and although he didn’t try to stand out in the crowd or be the center of attention, he still shone. Aside his charming, very wholesome and unassuming. He was also very sincere, confident and rarely arrogant.
His laugh or smiles made Josephine felt instantly happier. She felt so secured and comfortable with him. She could tell him almost anything and he would listen earnestly. He was very patient, loving and caring. Definitely, every girl’s dream of having as her man. On their relationship Michael Collins seems quite casual about it. They didn’t try it on fast. They wanted to do everything slowly but surely. They wanted to do everything slowly but surely. They both experienced a traumatic break up. Therefore they agreed to establish love, respect and trust as the foundation of their relationship before taking it to the next level, which was intimacy.
On the other hand, Sami was an opposite of Michael Collins in appearance and attitude. Sami had striking chiseled facial features, strong Jaw, well-sculpted nose, thin lips and eyes a shade of brown- gray. His hair was curl and little messed up due to running of his hand through it. His 5 o’ clock shadow stubble made him looked rough and very manly around the edges. Ever since he was a child, Sami knew he was very attractive and appealing to the opposite sex. He couldn’t do anything about it because it ran in the genes of Mensah men. But he never used it as weapon or considered it as an advantage against anyone.
Sami was the type of man who didn’t mind getting his hands dirty, especially with the nature of his work as an Engineer. He was used to working in the field and supervising his men. Despite his outdoor activities. He was properly groomed, clean and physically fit. He always look good in any type of clothes he wore, from formal Armani suit to Casual native attire and blue faded jeans to . . . naked.
Josephine thought.
Sami displayed confidence, success and dominance. He exuded on air of danger and unpredictability that anyone would fear crossing him, especially his enemies, he had very expensive eyes. It would speak for him. He had a range of looks that spoke volumes. When he walked in, the room seemed shrink no space was large enough to contain him.
His fearless, protective and compassionate manner felt like coming home every time she was with him; he took all her worries away. He made her feel safe, no matter what would happen in her life, she knew that he would sweep her off her feet and saved her like his princess. He was the only one who knew her well enough, when to defend and stand up for her, and when to let her fight her own battles. She knew he would always be at her back.
Josephine relationship with Sami was breathtakingly fast. They were so hot for each other that every time they were together they ignited and turned to carnal cravings like a fever… a thirst that couldn’t be quenched.
Hello, love Michael Collins hugged Josephine so tightly and lifted her off her feet. Oh! God, I miss you. He kissed her lips lingeringly and angled his lips to deepen their kiss.
Josephine pushed Collins slowly before he could deepen their kiss. I miss you too… I’m surprised seeing you here so soon …’
Collins put her down on her feet and smiled at her. I have a very persistent client at Gbagualada. An old lady, she wanted to paint a portrait for her husband.
Oh! You are leaving so soon?
Yes, tomorrow
Oh!
Michael Collins laughed and pulled her back in his arms. He tried to kiss her lops again, but she averted her face and his kiss landed on her cheek. He groaned and rained kisses on her cheek, while his eyes peered at Sami. He was observing Sami’s reaction.
Michael Collins, wait… I … I want you to meet Sami. She said and pulled away from him. Her eyes suddenly looked Sami’s gloomy eyes. We’ve already introduced ourselves. Michael answered briskly. You did? Her eyes still focused at Sami’s. His eyes mirrored what he truly felt. She saw the hurt…. Regret and misery. She felt so uneasy and wanted to escape where she was at that moment. It hurt her seeing the agony in his eyes.
Sami …. Josephine said and moved towards Sami.
But Sami raised a hand stopping her. Her eyes were full of sympathy. He hated sympathy, it was just a sycophancy of pity, he though he needed her love not sympathy or pity for God’s sake! He shook his head slowly and left them without a word.
Michael moved behind Josephine the moment Sami left. He is not yet over you.
She turned to him and grinned. What do you mean?
You know what am talking about, the man still loves you.
She heaved a sigh. Michael, I have you now; Sami and I were over five years ago.
I know Michael pulled her back in his arms and caressed her spine up and down, calming her nerves. He was bothered by Josephine’s reaction when she stepped out of the elevator. She had mixed emotions. She was happy but worried and conscious of Sami Mensah in the same room with them. And that moment when she went closer to Sami, there was something on it that both of them only understood. He groaned.
Cancel the dinner!
Sami shouted at Bolanle,
Emphasizing each words
Mr. Mensah but please you can’t do this. You cancelled it too late. We already set up everything. We are done with the decoration and the food is ready to serve. We prepared everything the whole day. Bolanle reasoned out facing Sami squarely.
I will still pay for it okay?
Sami said and about to turn when Bolanle cornered him.
This is not about money, we dream of catering your hotel. An opportunity for us to expand, to a grade A clients please
Can you at least taste the food we prepared?
I lost my appetite.’
Oh…. Who’s going to eat the food?
He rolled his eyes and gritted his teeth, your assistance or the dogs, I don’t care. Pack everything and go. He said grudgingly.
No, no, no. you can’t do this to me Mr. Mensah …. I mean … me and my assistants made extra effort. This is a big deal for us, a big break for my catering business! You can’t just cancel this. Oh! Mr. Mensah, for old time’s sake, we’ve been friends before right? She was trailing behind Sami, who was walking towards the men’s comfort room.
Friends? Sami asked himself. Acquaintance may be. He assessed the Bolanle. He met five years ago and the bolanle who was standing in front of him now. Very different. She was dressed like a centerfold model before with heavy expensive make up, and now in a chef white uniform, with strips of stains in different colors in the front. Her hair in a bun and her face was free of any make up even, the cheap one. He shook his head and breathed heavily.
Josephine’s boyfriend arrived
I can’t possibly force her to eat dinner with me. Sami said remorsefully.
Josephine’s boyfriend?
I thought you were back together. She said with a grimace gesture.
I wish I tried to win her heart again by courting her again, you know … starting with a romantic dinner… but she seemed to love somebody else now.
Oh! That’s too bad. She pouted and gave him a very sad look.
I love her so much. I would do anything and everything to have her back in my life. He sighed and pushed a door open.
Anything and everything?
Of course.
She tried to follow him inside but Sami stopped her with a piercing stare.
Oh! Sorry. There’s no sign here. She laughed and shrugged her but you know, I think she still loves you. You are first love and first love never dies.
Sami was glaring at her. Don’t believe everything your grandmother told you. Most of them are fictions. He said and closed the bathroom door.
Bolanle was still waiting for Sami when he went out of the bathroom. He puckered his brows. Bolanle just leave me alone. I don’t feel like talking to anyone now.
Mr. Mensah, I would like to propose a deal, she said in a businesslike manner.
A deal? I don’t discuss a business deal outside men’s comfort room. You can set an appointment with my PA this week. Mr. Mensah please doesn’t make this hard for me.
I know you are very busy person. But I want to you too by offering you this deal.
What deal?
I will help you getting your heart’s desire in exchange of catering the opening of this hotel. Bolanle said ambitiously and lifted an eyebrow at the same time. Sami shook his head. No don’t complicate thing between i and Josephine. I already messed up. I don’t want your help or anyone else just leaves us alone. He said irately and strode towards the parking lot of the hotel, where his Maserati was packed. He wanted to drive so fast, hoping to reduce the heart ache that he felt.
Bolanle was still following him until they reached the parking area. Just give it a try. We can help each other. Trust me.
Pack everything and go home, bolanle besides, you can’t handle our hotel’s opening. We are inviting thousands of guests. We have world class chefs from different countries, who are experts in international cuisine. You cannot compete with them, for God’s sake! He shouted.
Bolanle was silent for a moment and just stared at him. He stared back at her and groaned. He felt guilty of being so rude to her. She was standing there at the patio like a child who just lost her teddy bear.
Damn it. He forgot, she was once an actress.
I’m sorry Bolanle, I guess this is goodbye.
Okay I understand. She sighed and lifted her shoulders. I won’t have the opportunity of catering a world class five star hotel… and you won’t get your heart’s desire. So you will be loveless, sad and miserable. Too bad, you will grow old very lonely Mr. Mensah. He groaned and said. Okay fine.
We have a deal.
He closed the door of his Maserati and went back inside the hotel…..
Do you like it? This model standard room. We finished decorating it not quite long.
Wow, I really have great timing coming here. Michael said assessing the furniture and fixtures inside the room. He put his knapsack on the bed. I like it very comfortable. Thank you.
Sorry I can’t let us stay in the penthouse. It belongs to Sami and there’s no room available there besides, I’m going to transfer here tomorrow, after you leave.
Why not transfer now? You can have the bed and I’ll sleep on couch. I’m not comfortable knowing that you are in the same penthouse with your Ex, if I have known. I wouldn’t allow that of arrangement. You are inviting trouble love. He gave her disapproving look.
I am not weak, I can handle him. I’m not a lovesick teenager anymore, and I already told you. I don’t have a choice; there was no other available room at that time, except for the bunkhouse. I don’t want to sleep with the men.
Michael groaned. I understand, you don’t have to explain it all over again.
I just want you to trust me. I don’t want you to think that I’m over him. Michael went nearer to Josephine who was sitting in the loveseat. He sat down beside her and took her hand. I know how you feel, seeing him again after five years. The pain and bitterness were back as if everything just happened yesterday.
Yes actually, we talked a few days ago and able to clear some issues. He told me the truth. He was threatened by Emma and my father. Josephine started telling him what happened, although not in detail but the point of the matter was there is especially about the note and Sami’s confession.
So that’s the story. I don’t know what to say to my father and Emmanuel when we will meet next week. Every time they call I always make alibi’s excuses to cut their calls. I’m still mad at them. They hurt me so badly because of their protectiveness and of course they almost hurt Sami.
That was tragic! How could they do that to you? He sighed heavily. I don’t know. That’s why I have to go back Lagos next week, to ask for explanation. I just want to cover all the necessary work here before I’ll leave.   Yes, you should hear from them love. So you will understand why they did that I’m sure they were just doing what they thought was best for you at that time.
Maybe, I don’t know… but what they did was so harsh.
He nodded and asked. Mensah was a coward. He allowed himself to be threatened. I thought that man had no fear, he looked so tough and rough.
Dad threatened Sami terribly and even involved his family with his treats, especially his father Mr.Mensah. Dad claimed that knew a lot about the Mensah’s nooks and crannies in business and that he could send Mr.Mensah in prison in just a call.
That was frightening.
Sami was still nineteen at that time and he couldn’t handle such threats. Imagine him being haunted by that Collins stared at her. She was defending her ex. He thought. But at least, he should have told you about it. Instead of hunting you that way. He was still cruel Josephine. Heartless and merciless.
She was silent for a while. Michael Collins was right; Sami was cruel, heartless and merciless. She should hate, despise him.
But she couldn’t understand herself. Lately her heart softened every time she saw Sami. He already sincerely apologized several times. She believed that he really regretted what he did.
A while ago, at the lobby, she saw the jealousy in his eyes when he saw Collins and yet, she wanted to comfort him and reassure him that everything is okay. She knew she shouldn’t be thinking about him, it was so strange because she had a boyfriend now.
Love always remembers that I love you. I’m here for you, because of that love, I’m willing to do anything for your happiness. He took both of her hands holding it tightly.
Thank you. I love you too.
Michael I love calling you Michael than Collins because that’s my surname.

He shook his head and clasped her hand. But you love him more. . .
